Over the last few months I've really gotten back into listening to
aftershow podcasts on a regular basis, having not done so since Dexter
ended a couple of years ago. If you've not listened to any you may be
wondering exactly what the point of aftershow podcasts really is and why do you love them so much? Whether you're a die-hard follower of weekly episodes of your favourite shows or more of a Netflix-marathoner catching up on series you missed the first time round, aftershow podcasts are the perfect way to enhance the viewing experience.
One of my favourite things to do is chat about my favourite show's latest episode with a friend... but unfortunately not everyone is going to be obsessed with that new series you've just discovered. Luckily you can be sure that out there somewhere are aftershow podcasters who are! I really love listening to these fellow fans breakdown the episodes and discuss their thoughts, feelings and of course make predictions for upcoming episodes. Often these different perspectives will make you consider elements from an alternative point of view, which can be particularly interesting for any shows with 'mystery' elements of some sort (I mean, who doesn't love a good A theory?!). These fun shows are now my go-to for train journeys and walks home from work and the more aftershow podcasts I subscribe to, the more I think it could be my
dream job... if only I wouldn't have to listen to my own voice!
If my little ramble has managed to convince you to give aftershow podcasts a try but you're not sure where to start I would definitely recommend checking out AfterBuzz TV's vast selection of podcasts. Personally I'm a fan and frequent listener of their aftershows for Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon A Time, Nashville, The Following & Grey's Anatomy but with so many titles in their catalogue they'll probably have one for your favourite show, whatever it may be!
