DIY Stitched Gift Tags
Today's project is another thrifty but effective idea that would be perfect for a Sunday afternoon activity. Inspired by the stitched notebooks myself and Skye shared at The Bloggers Hub last month this is an easy way to create your own unique handmade tags for family and friends this year.
You will need: plain gift tags, a pin, a pencil or template, scissors, a needle and embroidery thread, paper, glue & a pen
1. Decide on a design and draw it onto the tag in pencil. Alternatively print yourself a template like this free snowflake one from Eight & Sixteen
2. Once you are happy with your design use a pin to punch holes into it making sure they are fairly evenly spaced
3. Next, use a needle and embroidery thread to fill in the design. I find it's best to use a backstitch and work your way around but use whatever method you are comfortable with - you can always cover up any messy threads on the reverse in the final step!
4. Finally you'll want to add on the name of the recipient plus a festive message. Write or print this onto a piece of paper, cut out and glue onto the reverse of your tag - this will also cover up the back of your stitching!
As always I'd love to hear from you if you try out this or any other project from my DIY Archives - if you liked this project don't forget to Pin it! Happy DIY-ing!
