A couple of months ago I decided to sign up for some volunteering and joined my local Farleigh Hospice craft group. With Valentine's Day just around the corner they were looking for heart-themed crafts and cards to sell on their stall so today I thought I would share a couple of the simple items I made and donated.
Those of you who saw my Upcycled Jars post may recognise the paper hearts used in today's projects as they were leftover from that DIY. To create them I used a 1" craft punch and recycled old Christmas catalogues from LUSH & Cath Kidston. The pages of these were perfect for this project as they were filled with everything from fabrics and beauty products to landscapes which meant that I managed to get some great colours, patterns and textures into my designs. The other thing I loved about using these particular catalogues was the matte texture of the paper which I thought made a nice change from your glossy magazine pages - but of course these would work just as well!
As always I'd love to hear from you if you try out this or any other project from my DIY Archives - use the hash tag #eelisediys to share your photos with me!
