NYX Girls Nail Polish: 216 Carnival

NYX Carnival is one of the many polishes comparable to Deborah Lipmann Happy Birthday and the frequently blogged about OPI Rainbow Connection. Like the more expensive versions it is packed with a full colour range of glitters in two different sizes. As you can see in the first picture it can be layered depending on the effect you are going for but personally I like the appearance of two coats shown in the middle section of the photo. So far I have only used this polish for an accent nail worn over Models Own Sterling Silver, 17 Forever and Rimmel Lycra Pro in Desire and on all occasions it has lasted well and hasn't chipped. I would have expected glitter polishes not to feel smooth on the nails like a normal polish does but all of the ones I have tried so far (from NYX & Kleancolor) have applied well and felt smooth once dried.

I personally wouldn't have bought either the DL or OPI polishes as I think they are a bit too expensive for something I wouldn't use that often. There are a huge range of alternatives over a varied price range including American Apparel Supernova £9, Urban Outfitters Electra £6, Technic Carnival £3, Milani Gems $4.99 and Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips in Frock Star £9.29.

What do you think of the rainbow glitter look?

I purchased NYX Girls Polish in Carnival from priced at $1.99 / approx. £1.30
