Weekly Style Inspiration 11.

Swimwear, Coral Shirt, Shorts, Polka Dot Dress & Knitted Tee: Topshop, Triangle Ring: ASOS, Pink Blouse: Miss Selfridge, Bag, Purse & Blue Dress: Zara, Armour Ring & Necklace: Urban Outfitters

It's a short one this week! I have two others that are half done, so they'll be up next Wednesday. I'm loving all of these blouses that have been about recently however I'm yet to buy myself one. I'm totally in love with the 'cornflower blue' (Fight Club ref anyone?!) colour of the Zara dress, it makes me excited for Summer styles & I particularly like the button detailing on the Miss Selfridge one. I'm still on the lookout for a new bag, this one from Zara is the closest I've found to the perfect one so far, I just wish it was in tan! I have nothing against the colour of it, I actually really like it, but if I were to get it I'd definitely have to buy a brown bag as well, I'd be lost without my favourite accessory colour, and I really can't afford two! Another amazing armour ring that won't fit me, I'm still hoping I'll find myself one that will. The necklace from ASOS is so cute, I've seen lots of similar ones around recently and am planning on making some myself very soon, I'll keep you guys posted on that!

Right, I'm off to order some more jewellery making supplies, I have some time off work over Easter so I'm hoping to get a shop set up then. I know I've been talking about it for ages but it's time to do something about it! I'm currently struggling with what to name my shop...

Big Fish.

It's been far too long since I did a photography post. I haven't taken advantage of this sunny weather yet and still have a film I haven't finished from when I took a trip to the zoo! Hopefully if it comes out okay, it will have lots of pictures of the wolves who, along with the penguins, were my favourites. Definitely the most interesting to photograph. I'll post them up when I get around to finishing it!
Anyway, I hope you like this polaroid I took a couple of years back, the post title is really just because it reminds me of all the shoes hanging up in the film Big Fish.

Week In Photos 4.

FINALLY managed to get the hoop out of my ear & replaced it with this cute little stud.
A total waste of a rental, I have no idea what I was thinking.
Drew these out to make some jewellery including another variation on the Deathly Hallows pendant.
A lovely gift!
Blossom on the trees.
Sawyer on his new turf.
New polish, Max Factor Silver (please excuse the chips!)

Also this week:
I've decided to do monthly 'film roundup' type posts for a while and see how that goes rather than post about films more regularly. There aren't always films that I feel like I can write a proper post on, but this way I could write a couple of sentences about each. I don't want to get rid of them completely as I really enjoy writing them but I know they aren't as popular as my other posts. I'm thinking of making it a 'rent, buy, pass' type of thing, would you prefer that?

ELF.

I made my first purchase from ELF last week and this is what I got; Foundation Brush £1.50,  Fan Brush £1.50, Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 in Ivory £1.50, Studio Cream Eyeliner in Coffee £3.50, All Over Cover Stick in Apricot Beige £1.50, Nail Polish in Rosy Raisin & Mint Green £1.50 each.
Looking back now at what I chose it's a pretty boring selection!

I have to say I was very impressed by the delivery speed, less than an hour after I placed the order I received an email saying that my order had already been posted out! I'd been thinking about trying out some of their products for a while as I'd read such good things about them and the prices seem very reasonable.
I haven't had a chance to try out all of the products yet, so far I think the nail polishes are lovely colours and seem good value for money. Unfortunately the "sugar orange" scent of the cover stick and moisturiser really puts me off of them. The moisturiser is also, unbelievably (!), too light for my pale skin, so a slightly different shade would have been better for me. They have also brought out a new tinted moisturiser in the Studio range for £3.50 which is probably better quality. I don't usually tend to order these type of products online for that reason really but at £1.50 I thought it was worth a try. I'm not sure at the moment whether I would place another order as I'm not yet in love with any of the products that I chose. I would like to try some of the products from the Mineral range though, however I'm unsure about the colour match again. Who knows, maybe I'll be tempted by something!

You can find these products at www.eyeslipsface.co.uk

Has anyone else tried any of their products, what did you think? Any recommendations?

Scissorhands.

Taken on Holga with 120
This was taken as research for part of a project I did at Uni, about 2 years ago, based on Edward Scissorhands. I'm not trying to turn this one into a film post however I have to say that I think the film is amazing and would definitely recommend it if you haven't seen it before! It's up there as one of my favourite Burton films, but I think I'll always love Sleepy Hollow the most. Unfortunately, I spent a lot of time on this particular idea and in the end it really didn't work out, and I have to confess I haven't watched it since.

Weekly Style Inspiration 9.

Polish, Tan Bag, Necklace, Trousers: Urban Outfitters, Heels: Office, Dress & Sunglasses: H&M, Utility Dress: New Look, Bag: Mulberry, Loafers: River Island, Ring: Topshop, T-shirt: Zara

Skirt, Jacket, Pink Crop, Floral Crop & Bags: Topshop, Bangle, Necklace, Wedges & Contrast Tee: ASOS, Lace ups: Officce, Ring: Forever 21, Zip Trousers: Zara

- I'm so desperate for that Zara tee in the first image but I couldn't find them anywhere in my local store. I've been searching for some new basic tees (I'm so fussy!) as all the ones I have at the moment are grey, I need some colour in my wardrobe! Same with the zip trousers, I couldn't see them anywhere!
- I always tell myself not to buy anymore nail polishes but there's always a lovely shade that's a slightly different colour to one I already have tempting me. I haven't tried any of the UO polishes before so I'm not sure what the quality is like, they do seem to have a varied range of colours which are different to those that a lot of other brands have on offer. Has anyone tried any, would you recommend them?
- The Mulberry Tillie, a new lust to add alongside the Alexa I think! Personally I love tan bags but I couldn't resist choosing this one in the pinky shade, it's so perfect for the summer months. And again with the fringed rucksack from Topshop, I actually really like it in black... I've even surprised myself on this one.
- I'm thinking about making my own version of that necklace from ASOS, I must get myself over to the bead shop in Covent Garden sometime soon, I remember them having beads similar to that a while ago. It's such a simple design but it makes a beautiful striking piece.
- Lastly, the contrast tee from ASOS, this particular one definitely isn't for me, I know I couldn't pull off that colour. Still, it's another thing I've been looking for recently. I saw some cropped tees which were half black and half white split vertically down the front, however being my fussy self again I have a weird thing about not being able to wear black and white... No?, Just me?!..oh well, haha

Sorry I've been MIA this week, I haven't been feeling well. I'll save up the week in photos images for next week since it's way past Monday & I won't have any new ones for this week as I'm stuck at home resting. I'm still planning on writing about Frozen for this week's movie post, so keep an eye out for that too!

Winter's Bone.

Image via Google Search
You'll have to bear with me on this one as it's a few weeks now since I actually watched it!

Winter's Bone tells the tale of a young girl, Ree Dolly. The story centres on her search for her drug-dealer father who has disappeared but has a court date which if he fails to attend will result in Ree and her family losing their home. She struggles on her journey with the unfriendly, secretive local community who all warn her to 'keep her nose out' and soon Ree realises that she is in over her head.

The story itself is quite strange at times and has very dark moments. Visually, there was some beautiful scenery and stunning colours. However, what I enjoyed most about Winter's Bone was Jennifer Lawrence's performance as Ree, in my opinion she definitely deserved her Best Actress nomination. I'd not seen her in anything before so I didn't have any expectations, just a pleasant surprise. I guess sometimes it helps when you haven't seen an actor play other roles as you can end up seeing them come through into the other performances, particularly if there is a specific role or type of character that they're known for. I think the film is quite different to what else has been around recently and it's a shame that I don't know anyone else that has seen it, or anyone that had heard of it before the Oscar nomination announcement. Hopefully the Oscar nod will mean that it does reach a wider audience as I think it deserves a bit more recognition. All I can really say is that I would recommend this film. It won't be to everyone's taste but if you enjoy films with more gritty subject matter and a sense of rawness, Winter's Bone is a good watch.

So, as you can see I've finally gotten around to a film post, sorry it's been a little while. I know that most blogs I follow are fashion/style based, and most of you guys are probably not here for the film posts, but I have to confess that they are the ones I probably writing enjoy the most! I hope you guys like reading them anyway...

P.S I've just finished watching Frozen so that may be the next film post!

Grey Shorts: Mango, Floral Dress, Rust Shorts, Ring & Necklace: Topshop, Green Dress: Zara, Bag: ASOS, Floral Vest: All Saints, Shoes: Office, Floral Skirt & Floral Crop: Urban Outfitters

This one's a bit of a missmatch! The Topshop ring is just the armour one I posted about before but with a cute stone detail which I love even more than the original. So tempted to buy the little turtle necklace!

Sunday DIY: Decorated Tealight Holders

Firstly I'd just like to say a big thank you as I hit and passed 50 followers this week which is great! It's nice to know that so many people are interested in my blog and I really appreciate it :)

So, you may have guessed from the title that Sundays are the day I've decided I will post DIY's when I have them, mainly because the weekend is when I'm most likely to have the time. They will probably mostly be really simple DIY's like this one and the ones I have posted before. I hope you guys like them as a blog feature and if you have any ideas for DIY's please do let me know and I will see what I can do!!

Scented tealights and holders from IKEA, both came in multipacks.
To create the design on the glass I used this pen instead of traditional glass paints. I picked it up from Hobbycraft for just under £4 and I believe you can use it on other surfaces like ceramics too. I chose to keep it simple and buy the black pen to begin with as I was just testing it out but they do come in a wide variety of colours. For the design itself I just made it up as I went along to be honest, but they could be personalised with writing too which I think might make cute little gifts.

This post also marks the start of me actually trying to stick to a posting schedule, fingers crossed it will work out. I realise I haven't done a film post for a few weeks now but I promise they will be back soon starting with Winter's Bone which I believe I said I was going to do a post on ages ago (I'm rubbish!). Please check back tomorrow for a week in photos post!

Weekly Style Inspiration 7.

Bag & Trousers: River Island, Rings: ASOS & All Saints, Shorts: ASOS, Cropped Jumper: New Look, Bracelet: Mango, Shoes & Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters, Vest & Snood: Topshop, Striped Dress: Zara

Bag: River Island, Sheer Floral Blouse & Lace-ups : Peacocks, Snood: Urban Outfitters, Printed Kimono: Zara, Leaf Print Blouse: New Look, Ring, Tops, Dress & Make Up: Topshop

Favourite picks: I'm so in love with that marble ring and those tan lace ups! The shape of the shoes reminds me of those raspberry ones from Topshop that I featured in one of these posts a while back and actually ended up buying. I know I've said it before, but River Island really do have some nice bags right now, that lace one is so Summery and cute. The kimono is a beautiful print and I love the colours although it's not my usual style. I can't believe Topshop are still making that zip back dress in new colours! I have it in navy and dusky pink, which I wore for my graduation last June. These dresses are so comfortable to wear and I do love this new colour a lot, though I won't be buying another one, it's just unnecessary!

Im trying to get into more of a routine with my blog posts, I've actually now assigned types of posts to days of the week (loser...haha). I'm sure i won't stick to it exactly as I won't be able to post every single day but somehow it gives me some structure to work to! Saying that, I chose Wednesday for these posts and it's now Thursday....so far so good, haha.
